5-Hit Game for Jackson
Sunday, May 3rd, 1970
Fans at Field of the Tarpons got to see not only a home-team victory today, but also one of the most impressive feats of hitting of the season.
The Bloomington HS Emperors outplayed the Macomb Township HS Purple Aces en route to a 10-9 win, but the standout was center fielder Daniel Jackson. Jackson netted 5 hits in 6 at-bats and finished with a dynamite game line.
"Hey, we tried everything we could think of to get him out," Purple Aces manager said in his postgame comments. "We threw everything but the kitchen sink against him and he hit it. Maybe we should've thrown the sink, too."
Daniel Jackson grounded out in the 1st, hit an RBI single in the 3rd, doubled in the 5th, doubled in the 7th, hit an RBI double in the 9th and singled in the 10th.
For the year Jackson is batting .429 with 57 hits and 8 home runs. He has scored 25 times and driven in 29.
