Kleintop Tags Players for 5 Hits Saturday, May 9th, 1970 A jubilant Chris Kleintop joined the postgame press conference at El Paso HS Grounds today to offer some unusual words of encouragement -- for the Peoria HS Players pitching staff he had just vanquished. "It may not have looked like it," said the Columbia HS Rottweilers right fielder, "but I saw some awful good pitches today. If luck hadn't been on my side it might have turned out a lot different." That would not have been the conclusion of anyone who saw his dominant 5-for-6 hitting performance, which led the Rottweilers to a 26-8 win. "He made it look easy," said , manager of the Players. "We never figured out what to do with him. Obviously." Chris Kleintop hit a solo-shot off Donald Coniglio in the 1st, singled in the 2nd, singled in the 3rd, grounded out in the 3rd, singled in the 6th, walked in the 8th and hit a two-run home run off Gary Stitt in the 9th.
