Rivers Caps Great Week Monday, May 11th, 1970 Ricky Rivers must have thought he was dreaming. First he went on an exceptional week-long batting spree, bashing the ball at a .560 clip, then the Dearborn HS first baseman finds out he has been chosen the league's best performer and gets the SL1 Player of the Week Award. He told BNN reporters in the postgame, "It was a great week for me. I could see the ball so well. Plus some of the balls seemed to have good eyes, too." For the week Rivers batted .560 (14-for-25) with no home runs and 9 RBIs. In his season totals, Rivers has 4 home runs, .428 BA, .508 OBP, 38 RBIs and 40 runs scored. He has played in 35 games. |
