Hit Parade: Anderson Pops 5 Hits
Thursday, May 14th, 1970
There aren't many who could be pro ballplayers and there are even fewer who could put up 5 hits in a day.
Matt Anderson is one of those rare few, as he went 5-for-7 against the Bolingbrook HS Power at Las Vegas HS Grounds today. The monster effort from the 17-year-old second baseman helped the Flint HS Burn take the win, 28-4.
"We made some bad pitches and he took advantage of it," said Power manager . "That's the game, though. Don't make mistakes and you'll win ballgames. Make mistakes and, well, you saw what happened today."
Matt Anderson hit an RBI single in the 1st, hit an RBI single in the 3rd, singled in the 4th, flied out in the 5th, hit an RBI single in the 5th, hit an RBI single in the 6th and grounded out in the 8th.
This season Anderson is swinging the bat at a .310 pace. He has hit no home runs and scored 41 times, while driving in 29. His on-base percentage is .423 and he has played in 35 games.
