Wyoming HS-O'Fallon HS Brawl, Mendez and Potter Suspended Thursday, May 14th, 1970 Nobody was hurt in a confrontation yesterday between the Woodchucks Miguel Mendez and the Horned Frogs Bobby Potter as both benches cleared during the fracas at Santa Ana HS Grounds. It appeared that there were a few punches thrown before the players could be separated. Today the league commissioner took action. The league decided to punish the guilty parties. Miguel Mendez and Bobby Potter will each have to sit out 6-game suspensions for their roles in this fight. In this current campaign Mendez is hitting at a .386 clip with 4 home runs and 35 RBIs. So far this year Potter has 2 saves in 22 relief appearances with a 4-1 record and 2.63 ERA. |
