Willimas Swings for the Cycle
Thursday, May 14th, 1970
Jaden Willimas punished the Bloomington HS Emperors today, leading the Players to a 20-7 win. In doing so, Willimas hit for the cycle, tagging the Emperors for 5 hits in 6 at-bats.
A player hitting a single, a double, a triple and a home run in the same game is one of the more unusual feats in professional baseball and typically happens only a couple times per season.
"Well, I didn't expect that to happen," the Peoria HS shortstop said after the game. "I got some great pitches and I hit their mistakes."
Willimas also had 4 RBI and 3 runs scored in the game at El Paso HS Grounds.
Jaden Willimas doubled in the 2nd, grounded out in the 2nd, singled in the 4th, hit a three-run home run off Tim Goodrich in the 5th, hit an RBI triple in the 6th and singled in the 7th.
Currently Willimas is hitting .365 and has collected 6 home runs, 35 RBIs and scored 42 times, while playing in 39 games.
