Bartholomew Smacks 5 Hits for Gangsters Friday, May 15th, 1970 It seemed that Dearborn HS catcher Scott Bartholomew could do no wrong as the Gangsters KO'd the Alpines, 7-2 today. Bartholomew rapped out 5 hits in 5 at-bats and seemed to know which pitches Alpines hurlers were throwing. "I think the Gangsters were stealing signs," growled one unhappy Champaign HS fan after the game. "I just felt good today. I saw the ball well and just wanted to make good contact and put the ball in play," said the jubilant Bartholomew in the postgame press interview. Scott Bartholomew singled in the 2nd, singled in the 4th, singled in the 6th, singled in the 8th and hit an RBI single in the 9th. This year Bartholomew is batting .281 with no home runs.
