Block 5-for-5 for Tomahawks
Friday, May 15th, 1970
The Bloomington HS Tomahawks stopped the Cicero HS Shamrocks by a score of 6-4 at Ballpark of Anchorage HS today, with the lion's share of the credit going to second baseman David Block. The 18-year-old had a career day, collecting 5 hits.

"Every batter wants to have a quality at-bat every time he steps up to the plate," Block said later. "He wants to hit the ball hard."

Block did just that in his 5 at-bats, much to the chagrin of the Shamrocks.

"Not much that I can say," offered Cicero HS manager . "He just hammered the heck out of us."

David Block singled in the 1st, singled in the 2nd, hit a two-run single in the 4th, singled in the 6th and doubled in the 8th.

So far in 1970 Block is batting .347 with no home runs, 33 RBIs and 34 runs scored. He has 59 hits in 170 at-bats and a .467 OBP.
