Conference 2 Best Pitcher Chosen Monday, May 25th, 1970 When the name of Lee McGuire appeared on the Duluth HS lineup card in 1970, it was a virtual guarantee of a victory or at least a well-pitched game. For his brilliant performance this season he was named the Conference 2 Pitcher of the Year Award winner today. He started 10 games, running up a 5-0 record and a 1.86 ERA. McGuire held opponents to a .210 average while striking out 35, walking 12 and allowing 44 hits in 58 innings of work. Rick Adams of the Lorain HS Mud Sharks finished second in voting, while Matt Adams of the Burnsville HS Armada finished third. |
