Carter Slaps 6 Hits Monday, April 13th, 1970 Tom Carter exploded for a barrage of base hits today at Pilgrims Stadium. The Flint HS center fielder had a field day in the 26-11 triumph over the South Bend HS Warlords, finishing 6-for-7. "My hitting philosophy is simple," he said. "I focus on just seeing the ball and I try to get a good pitch." Carter must have focused at least 6 times and apparently got some good pitches, too, leading to one of his best days ever with the bat. Tom Carter singled in the 1st, singled in the 2nd, flied out in the 3rd, hit an RBI single in the 5th, doubled in the 6th, hit an RBI single in the 7th, hit an RBI single in the 8th and walked in the 9th. This season Carter is batting .404 with 16 RBIs, 17 runs scored and no home runs. View Boxscore |
