Halsell Bashes 5 Base Hits
Monday, April 13th, 1970
Kevin Halsell was at the head of a Duluth HS hit parade today at Diamond Kats Stadium. The shortstop went to the plate 6 times and came away with 5 hits, sparking the Tyrants to a 17-2 victory over the Youngstown HS Punishers.
"I told the guys in the dugout, just be thinking about hitting the ball hard somewhere," the sweet-swinging Halsell told reporters after the game. "Seems like it worked out well for us today."
Punishers skipper said later that the club gave up "too much plate."
"Not the way we planned it," he said. "Every hitter in the league will rip you when you do that."
Kevin Halsell doubled in the 2nd, singled in the 3rd, hit a two-run single in the 3rd, flied out in the 5th, hit an RBI single in the 6th and singled in the 8th.
This season Halsell is batting .439 with 1 home run. He has scored 18 runs and driven in 13.
