3-HR Day for Stephenson Wednesday, April 15th, 1970 The old superstition that "bad news comes in threes" certainly came true for the Canton HS Red Dogs today. Farmington Hills HS left fielder Steve Stephenson tripled up on the home runs to propel the Mosquitos to the 12-7 win at Loggers Ballpark. "We had our chances to win the game, but we just didn't come through," Canton HS manager said. "Stephenson hit the heck out of the ball." In addition to the homers, Stephenson collected 3 hits in 4 at-bats, 7 RBIs and scored 4 runs. "Easy swings get you home runs," he said after the game. "I kept telling myself not to press. They have to be nice and easy swings." Steve Stephenson hit a solo-shot off Matt Vitello in the 2nd, hit a GRAND SLAM off Matt Vitello in the 3rd, hit a two-run home run off Joey Ashley in the 5th, flied out in the 6th and walked in the 8th. So far this year Stephenson is batting .368 with 4 home runs. |
