Blue Hens Pitching Ravaged by Parker
Thursday, April 16th, 1970
Jack B Parker was at the head of a Burnsville HS Armada hit parade today at Boston HS Grounds. The 16-year-old went to the plate 6 times and came away with 5 hits, but it was the Sioux City HS Blue Hens that marched off with the 13-12 win.
"We didn't have it today," griped Armada skipper following the game. "Jack B did fine, but as a team, we didn't do it with the bats and we didn't do it pitching."
Parker did more than fine, dominating the Blue Hens at the plate during his record-making 5-for-6 performance.
"Each time I went to the plate, I was thinking about hitting the ball hard somewhere," the sweet-swinging center fielder told reporters. "When I focus on that, I usually have quality at-bats."
Jack B Parker walked in the 1st, singled in the 2nd, singled in the 3rd, singled in the 6th, singled in the 7th, flied out in the 8th, singled in the 10th and walked in the 12th.
Batting .429 to date, Parker has 4 home runs and 9 RBIs.
