5-Hit Game for Pierce
Saturday, April 25th, 1970
It doesn't happen very often, but it did for Logan Pierce today -- a 5-hit day. He went on a rampage and sparkled on the diamond at Santa Ana HS Grounds, but the performance lost a little luster when the Woodchucks were downed 15-14 by the Davenport HS Destroyers.
After his glittering performance, the Wyoming HS left fielder told the press that he "just tried to get myself in a good count and have a good at-bat."
His batting theory paid dividends today as he slammed 5 hits in 6 tries and put his name in the record book.
"I just wish we had added a win in the record book today, too," Pierce said.
Logan Pierce singled in the 1st, hit an RBI single in the 2nd, singled in the 4th, hit a two-run single in the 5th, flied out in the 6th and hit a solo-shot off Sean Rayner in the 9th.
This year Pierce is hitting .510 with 1 home run and 23 RBIs to his credit. He has gotten on base at a .575 clip and scored 25 runs.
