Shimek Belts Bunch of Base Hits Sunday, April 26th, 1970 No matter what the Livonia HS Sand Gnats threw him today, Nate Shimek hit it. The 18-year-old La Crosse HS Potros shortstop racked up 6 hits in 7 at-bats today at Blizzard Ballpark and led the Potros to a 17-15 victory. Nate Shimek hit a solo-shot off Charlie Miller in the 1st, hit an RBI single in the 2nd, hit an RBI single in the 3rd, singled in the 4th, hit an RBI single in the 6th, hit an RBI double in the 7th and flied out in the 9th.
