Kevin Howard Named Premier L2 Player
Wednesday, April 26th, 1972
He may have less experience than most of his NCAA Baseball peers, but that didn't slow Kevin Howard down at all in 1972.

At the age of 23, the Texas Tech center fielder has been named the winner of the League 2 Most Valuable College Player Award.

He had a .415 batting average and a .504 on-base percentage this year. In 58 games he piled up 95 hits, 12 doubles, 4 triples, 12 home runs, 50 RBIs and 59 runs scored.

"I'm blown away by the season I was able to put together," he said. "I'm looking forward to trying to do it all again next year."

Jeff Eichler of the Arizona Wildcats finished second in voting, while Bill Cuadra of the UCLA Bruins finished third.
