| Swan Tames Jayhawks Friday, January 28th, 1972 "Good pitching beats good hitting" is an old baseball adage.
Well, good pitching also beats bad hitting.
Eric Swan of the Virginia Tech Hokies proved the point at Larks Ballpark today, holding the Kansas Jayhawks to 5 hits in a complete game shutout victory.
"Swan made us look real bad today," Jayhawks manager said in his postgame interview. "He was outstanding. He was down in the zone with all his pitches. Everything was sinking."
Swan had 3 strikeouts and gave up 3 walks as the Hokies took the 4-0 win.
