Cianci Wins SEC Player of the Week

19-year-old John Cianci made a few Vanderbilt headlines during this past week as the rookie first baseman proved he could compete at the plate with his high-school idols. He captured the attention of fans, journalists and South Eastern Conference officials last week and today took home Player of the Week honors for his effort.

He cracked 4 hits in 6 at-bats to put up a .667 average. Cianci collected 2 home runs, 9 RBIs and scored 3 runs.

Cianci is hitting .455 for the season with 3 home runs, 10 RBIs and 5 runs scored. He has 10 hits in 22 at-bats and played in 5 games.
