| SEC Trophy Goes to Hooey of Tennessee Monday, February 26th, 1973 23-year-old Mike Hooey made a few Tennessee headlines during this past week as the rookie right fielder proved he could compete at the plate with his high-school idols. He captured the attention of fans, journalists and South Eastern Conference officials last week and today took home Player of the Week honors for his effort.
He cracked 12 hits in 25 at-bats to put up a .480 average. Hooey collected 1 home run, 11 RBIs and scored 6 runs.
For the season Hooey has produced 52 hits in 151 at-bats for a .344 average with 4 home runs and gotten on base at a .471 clip. | |
