| Red-Hot Heinold Scorches Cowboys Wednesday, March 29th, 1972 Even as a kid, Jared Heinold said his coaches told him the key to hitting was making contact, and letting everything else flow from there. At Ballpark of Washington College today, Heinold showed how well he learned that lesson.
The 23-year-old shortstop had 5 hits in 5 at-bats for the Washington Huskies, helping his team knock off the Oklahoma State Cowboys by a score of 6-3.
"They always said, just keep your eye on the ball, don't overswing, make contact and you never know what will happen," he said. "That's all I did today."
Jared Heinold singled in the 1st, doubled in the 2nd, singled in the 5th, singled in the 6th and singled in the 8th.
In this current campaign Heinold is hitting at a .240 clip with 5 home runs and 39 RBIs.
