Los Angeles Wins at Home to Take 1-0 Lead in Round 1
|
Manchester right fielder Ripper Collins pounded Los Angeles Dodgers pitchers at Dodger Stadium 1962, but it was not enough to keep the Mooses from falling, 9-5 in Game 1 of the First Round 2 Loos and out. Collins went 2 for 4 with 2 home runs, while adding 4 RBI and scoring twice, though he couldn't keep the Mooses from slipping to a 1-0 deficit in the best-of-3 series.
Making an impact for the home team was Mike Scott. In the bottom of the eighth, the top prospect had a run-scoring walk. That made the score 6-5, Dodgers.
"It was a good day but I'm not letting my guard down," Scott said. "I'll let my guard down as soon as someone puts a big, fat championship ring on my finger."
Game 2 is set to be played Sunday at Moose Park. The scheduled starters for the game are Nick Williams for the Los Angeles Dodgers and Milt Shoffner for the the Manchester Mooses.
