Davis Handcuffs Dodgers, Expos Seize 2-1 Advantage in Semis
|
The Montreal Expos moved to within one game of the FBN Championship today, downing the Los Angeles Dodgers on the road at Dodger Stadium 1962 by a score of 4-1. Expos left-hander Mark W Davis had a strong outing. He threw 7 innings allowing 1 run. The win gives the Expos a 2-1 advantage in the best-of-5 Semi-Finals.
It could have been a different outcome for Montreal, had it not been for Alex Ortiz, the slick-fielding shortstop . Ortiz contributed a run-scoring triple in the top of the fifth inning to put Montreal up, 2-1.
Ortiz told a Montreal Herald reporter that he was "gratified" with the win.
Game 4 is set to be played Friday, April 18th, 1947. The scheduled starters for the game are Mario Soto for the Los Angeles Dodgers and Ed Halicki for the the Montreal Expos.
