Lucas Handcuffs Mariners, Brewers Seize 2-1 Advantage in Semis
|
The Milwaukee Brewers moved to within one game of the FBN Championship today, downing the visiting Seattle Mariners at Milwaukee County Stadium 1976 by a score of 2-1. Brewers left-hander Gary Lucas had a strong outing in which he threw 9 innings of 5-hit ball. The win gives the Brewers a 2-1 advantage in the best-of-5 Semi-Finals.
Lucas was in the zone all game. He frustrated Seattle hitters while giving the Brewers 9 innings of quality work. Lucas threw 119 pitches, allowing 5 hits and getting 11 punchouts.
"I'm glad to get the first one under my belt," said Lucas. "It's a good start to the season."
The next game is set to be played Friday, April 18th, 1947 in Seattle. The scheduled starters for the game are Tom Underwood for Milwaukee and Tommy John for Seattle.
