Home Field Advantage: Sanchez, Montreal Open First Round 2 Loos and out with Win

The Montreal Expos powered past the visiting Tampa Smokers, 7-5, in the opener of the First Round 2 Loos and out at Olympic Stadium today. Montreal right fielder Luis Sanchez went 2 for 2 with 2 singles and 2 walks. He scored 2 runs, to lead the charge. The Expos now lead the series 1-0.
In the bottom of the first, Montreal third baseman Ernesto Quevedo had a productive at-bat. With the bases loaded and two out, Quevedo stroked a grand slam home run to left-center. It made the score 5-0, Montreal. For the game, he was 1 for 4 with a home run, while adding 4 RBI and scoring once.
"It's hard to overstate how much this mattered to us, especially in a short series," Montreal manager Rich Callaghan said.
Game 2 is set to be played Sunday at Plant Field. Slated to start are Ed Halicki for Montreal and Babe Ruth for Tampa.
