Huskies Dominate, Sweep Quaterfinals
Friday, May 10th, 1946
Many baseball pundits expected a close series in the Fredrock Baseball Network Quaterfinals. It turned out quite a bit different.
The Anchorage Huskies swept aside the Boston Red Sox to advance to the Semi-finals, winning the final game by a 5-2 score at Fenway Park 1976.
The series MVP was first baseman Earl Sheely, who hit .667 with a .700 on-base percentage. He had 0 home runs, drove in 2 RBI and scored 1 runs.
"We expected this series to go right down to the wire, so to sweep is a bit of a surprise," he said. "But we'll take it."
The Anchorage Huskies don't know who they will face in the next round. They will play the winner of the Cincinnati Reds - Wabash Warriors series. Wabash leads the series 1 games to 0. The Semi-finals is scheduled to begin on May 12th, 1946.
