Maldonado Sizzles in No-Hitter Monday, August 30th, 1982 Gil Maldonado was untouchable today at Civic Stadium, displaying a good fastball and wicked breaking balls in his 1-0 win against the Eugene Emeralds. The Tacoma hurler did not allow a single hit, fanning 12 while walking 1. "This is great," Maldonado told reporters after the game. "Every pitcher wants a no-hitter. I just wanted the win, but the no-hitter is a little extra icing on the victory cake." This year Maldonado has worked 177.1 innings with 183 strikeouts en route to a 12-7 record and 2.74 ERA.
