Devitt Hurls Tacoma to Shutout Win
Tuesday, September 7th, 1982
A favor to his bullpen. That's what Joe Devitt was doing at Phoenix Municipal Stadium today as he blanked the Phoenix Giants in a 9-inning complete game shutout.
"I went out there to try to eat up innings and help out our bullpen," the Tacoma Cubs right-hander said later. "I felt I had my good stuff, and it turned out my command was solid."
Devitt notched 5 strikeouts, surrendered 3 walks, allowed 5 hits, and kept the bullpen phone quiet all day long.
In 25 starts this year Devitt has fashioned a 20-3 record and a 2.30 ERA.
