Stoddard's Season Could be Over
Tuesday, August 17th, 1982
The doctors have spoken and Bob Stoddard of the Pittsfield Colonials didn't like what he heard. The 25-year-old starting pitcher is almost certainly gone for the rest of the year and depending on his progress could miss some of next season as well. Stoddard sustained his season-ending injury during the Reading Phillies game yesterday at Wahconah Park. He had to leave the game because he hurt himself while throwing a pitch. Today the Pittsfield medical staff reported Stoddard had a torn flexor tendon in his elbow and would be absent from the lineup for at least 12 months.
Currently Stoddard has a 12-5 won-lost record in 20 starts with a 2.70 ERA. He also has 106 strikeouts in 146.2 innings.
