Pittsfield Blanked by Smith, 2-0
Thursday, September 2nd, 1982
Waterbury Rough Riders hurler Steve Smith was stingy with runs in his latest outing against the Pittsfield Colonials, shutting them out 2-0 on 4 hits.
"Steve was very aggressive tonight," Waterbury manager said. "He threw everything he had with a lot of confidence."
Through 9 innings, Smith tallied 8 strikeouts and allowed 1 walk.
"He was throwing strikes with all his pitches and mixing it up well," losing manager said. "Smith has a sneaky fastball, and whatever that off-speed pitch was, it was keeping our timing off."
This season to date Smith has a record of 4 wins and 4 losses with a 2.14 ERA, has appeared in 9 games and struck out 51 in 71.1 innings.
