Round 1 to Sailors Tuesday, September 21st, 1982 The Lynn Sailors ignited a huge celebration as they beat the Reading Phillies 7-5 to win the Round 1. Lynn won the series 4-3, capturing the title for the 4th time. "We stepped it up at the right time, and now we're the champs," said Lynn manager . "It's a great feeling." The champs finished the regular season 74-45 and claimed second place in the Eastern League. In the jubilant clubhouse after the decisive game, series MVP and second baseman Rosben Majam said the Sailors have "great fans and they deserve this."
