Hille Skunks Rockets Friday, July 30th, 1982 It wasn't easy but the Greenville Spinners made it look that way. Starter Richard Hille shut out the Gastonia Rockets despite having what he later called "sub-par" stuff, and the Greenville Spinners cruised to victory, 7-0. Hille allowed only 2 hits and rang up 4 strikeouts but insisted later that he did not deserve primary credit for the win. "It didn't feel quite right today, but I got a lot of help to get through," he said. "I trusted my catcher and the guys behind me bailed me out more than once when I screwed up." Thus far this season, Hille has worked 184.1 innings with 76 strikeouts en route to a 12-8 record and a 3.03 ERA. View Boxscore |
