Booker Wins Award for NYPL Dominance
Wednesday, September 15th, 1982
At the age of 22, Greg Booker says he still has a lot to learn about life in New York-Pennsylvania League.
But he certainly seems to be a quick study, as the Auburn Red Stars reliever was better than all others this year and has captured the 1982 New York-Pennsylvania League Reliever of the Year Award.
"I hope to win this a few more times before all is said and done in my career," the Lynchburg, Virginia native said.
For the season, Booker had 7 saves in 12 relief appearances, which totaled 54.2. He fanned 30 betters, while walking 20 and put up a record of 4-4 to go with his 3.29 ERA.
He received 11 first place votes, as a unanimous winner. Phil George of the Jamestown Falcons finished second in voting, while Terrence Jackson of the Jamestown Falcons finished third.
