Bozeman Pitcher Gets Most Valuable Player Award Sunday, October 3rd, 1982
He's only 23 years old, but Jim Gott of the Bozeman Pheasants has clearly established himself as a star of Pioneer League.
His status grew today as the ace pitcher was named the winner of the 1982 Pioneer League Most Valuable Player Award.
"I just want to pitch well and win games," he said. "The awards are nice though."
Gott's award-winning season saw him put up a 18-5 record through 25 starts, throwing 214 innings. He had 211 strikeouts with 53 walks and a 2.14 ERA. Opponents hit only .189 against him during the season.
