| 5-for-6 Game for Swearingen Saturday, May 2nd, 1970 It was a sensational day at the plate for Union City HS Astronauts center fielder Tim Swearingen, but a tough one for the team, as the Astronauts dropped the contest 13-9 to the Irvington HS Yaks.
Even with the loss, Swearingen was pure misery for the Irvington HS pitching staff. He left them shell-shocked after going 5-for-6 in an explosive display of hitting.
"It's always good to get a bunch of hits in a game, but you also want to win," said Swearingen, who is the 17-year old center fielder .
"Swearingen really hit the ball hard and when you do that, you've got a good chance to do some damage," Yaks manager told BNN reporters after the game. "I feel like we threw him some good pitches, but he just put some good swings on the ball."
Tim Swearingen singled in the 1st, singled in the 2nd, singled in the 3rd, singled in the 5th, flied out in the 7th and singled in the 9th.
On the season, Swearingen is batting .273 with no home runs and 10 RBIs. He has played in 28 games.
