Harris Ups Hit Streak to 20 Consecutive Games
Sunday, May 3rd, 1970
New Bedford HS's 17-year-old right fielder Mike Harris is on a fine run at the plate. His consecutive-game hitting streak has reached 20 games, doing so today by going 1-for-4 against the Columbia HS Nightowls.

The streak has brought a degree of attention that Harris has often tried to deflect, talking about teammates' accomplishments rather than his own. After the Corsairs wrapped up their 4-2 triumph over Columbia HS at Ballpark of Pittsburgh HS today, he downplayed his part in the victory.

"I got 1 hit," he said. "My contributions were no more important than those from everyone else who played today."
Mike Harris grounded out in the 1st, flied out in the 3rd, singled in the 4th, walked in the 7th and grounded out in the 9th.

For the year Harris is batting .423 with 5 home runs, 38 RBIs and 27 runs scored.
