 | 23-Game Streak Ends, Wilder Hitless Sunday, May 10th, 1970 The Brockton HS Shieks got more than the 5-3 victory at Odyssey Ballpark today -- they also put an end to the 23-game hitting streak of Cranston HS Loons shortstop Mike Wilder by holding him without a hit in 5 at-bats. After the game, Wilder seemed more concerned with his team taking the loss than with the demise of his streak. "I had some great looks at some pitches that I should have hit," he said. "I missed some that I shouldn't have swung at. All in all, I wasn't much help with the bat today." This year Wilder has hit at a .390 clip with 60 hits, 1 home run, 19 RBIs and 26 runs scored. |   |
