| Super Swinger -- Dyer Slams 5 Hits Tuesday, April 7th, 1970 5 hits in a game is a rare thing, but Ellicott City HS's Jimmy Dyer made it happen today against the Fighting Lions. Everything came together at the plate for the 18-year-old third baseman as he collected 5 hits in 6 at-bats -- and led the Pilgrims to a 5-4 win at St. Petersburg HS Fields.
"I'm just out there to try and help the team win," Dyer said after the game, "I had some real good at-bats today. I made good, solid contact and luckily no one caught 'em."
Jimmy Dyer singled in the 1st, doubled in the 3rd, was hit by a pitch in the 5th, singled in the 7th, hit a solo-shot off Rico Utrera in the 9th, grounded out in the 11th, walked in the 13th and singled in the 15th.
This year Dyer is hitting .485 with 1 home run and 10 RBIs to his credit. He has gotten on base at a .575 clip and scored 11 runs.
