 | Super Swinger -- Mancha Slams 5 Hits Thursday, April 16th, 1970 It doesn't happen very often, but it did for Andy Mancha today -- a 5-hit effort. He went on a rampage at Bashers Ballpark and paced the Octopi to a 12-4 win over the Plymouth HS Seadogs. After his dynamite batting performance, the North Bethesda HS second baseman told reporters that he "just tried to get in a good count and have a good at-bat. That's all I can control." His philosophy paid dividends today. He slammed 5 hits in 6 tries and put his name in the record book. Andy Mancha hit an RBI single in the 1st, singled in the 3rd, struck out in the 4th, doubled in the 6th, hit an RBI single in the 7th and hit an RBI single in the 8th. For the season Mancha has produced 23 hits in 67 at-bats for a .343 average with 2 home runs and gotten on base at a .430 clip. View Boxscore |   |
