| Hits Galore: Roane Drills 5 Hits Saturday, March 4th, 1972 Bee Racers left fielder Ian Roane had his way with New Britain HS pitching today at Flying Tigers Ballpark and mauled them for 5 hits in 6 at-bats. His efforts were all in vain, though, as the Alleycats ruined his great day by toppling the Bee Racers, 16-13.
"I had a great day, but you've got to give New Britain HS credit, they did what they had to do to win," he told reporters after the game. "They weren't very impressed with my 5 hits."
"Oh, we noticed what Roane did today," Alleycats skipper said. "He had quite a game. I can tell you this, we will pitch him a little differently the next time we face him."
Ian Roane hit an RBI single in the 1st, doubled in the 2nd, flied out in the 3rd, hit a three-run home run off Matt Johnston in the 5th, singled in the 7th and doubled in the 9th.
Roane is batting .438 this season in 16 games with 5 home runs, 20 RBIs and 19 runs scored. He has 28 hits in 64 at-bats.
