| Rodriguez Bangs Out 5 Base Hits Tuesday, March 7th, 1972 Roberto Rodriguez was at the head of a Norwalk HS hit parade today at Buzz Ballpark. The second baseman went to the plate 6 times and came away with 5 hits, sparking the City Hawks to a 16-9 victory over the Madison HS Dodgers.
"I told the guys in the dugout, just be thinking about hitting the ball hard somewhere," the sweet-swinging Rodriguez told reporters after the game. "Seems like it worked out well for us today."
Dodgers skipper said later that the club gave up "too much plate."
"Not the way we planned it," he said. "Every hitter in the league will rip you when you do that."
Roberto Rodriguez hit a three-run home run off Mike Dye in the 1st, singled in the 3rd, grounded out in the 5th, singled in the 6th, singled in the 8th and hit a two-run single in the 8th.
Rodriguez is batting at a .430 pace this season, picking up 40 hits in 93 at-bats with 4 home runs, 19 RBIs and 30 runs scored.
