| Lowden 5-for-6 Against Annihilators Monday, March 13th, 1972 New Britain HS Alleycats shortstop Jim Lowden had a day to remember at Flying Tigers Ballpark today, ripping apart the Allentown HS Annihilators and sparking the Alleycats to a 22-3 victory.
Lowden wrote his name in the record books with a 5-hit barrage, finishing his special day 5-for-6.
"I'm usually a first ball hitter," Lowden told BNN reporters in the postgame press conference. "I think pitchers think batters are going to let the first one go by. I never do. I've always found that it's better to pull the trigger early in the count. Pitchers get real nasty when they get ahead of you, so I try to avoid it."
Jim Lowden singled in the 1st, grounded out in the 2nd, hit a two-run double in the 3rd, singled in the 4th, singled in the 5th, walked in the 7th and singled in the 8th.
Lowden is batting at a .289 pace this season, picking up 35 hits in 121 at-bats with 1 home run, 27 RBIs and 14 runs scored.
