| Trojans End Collins's Streak Wednesday, March 15th, 1972 It was the best of both worlds for the Wissahickon HS Trojans today at Silly Yaks Ballpark, as they defeated the Norwalk HS City Hawks 6-3 and also snapped Norm Collins's 20-game hitting streak. The 16-year-old Norwalk HS right fielder failed to get a hit in 4 at-bats.
"Nothing personal against Collins, we just wanted to win the game," said Trojans skipper . "We did a great job keeping him off-balance and guessing."
When asked by reporters about his streak coming to an end, Collins frowned and said, "I won't lie and say that I'm not disappointed about it, but I'd feel much better if we had won."
Collins is hitting .372 this year with 1 home run and 19 RBIs. He also has an OBP of .430, 9 walks and scored 16 times. | |
