 | Westfield HS's Mayberry Snaps Up Player of the Week Monday, March 5th, 1973 It can be difficult for a young player to step out of the shadows and assert himself in the American High School, but last week John Mayberry of the Westfield HS Fighting Knights reminded everyone just why he's here as he threw up numbers that made him an easy selection for Player of the Week. Mayberry rocked opposing pitching for a .393 average (11-for-28), 2 home runs and 10 RBIs to come away with the award. For the season Mayberry has hit .403 with 6 home runs and 23 RBIs. He has played in 17 games and scored 24 times. |   |
