 | Broten Sizzles -- Smokes Trojans for 5 Hits Monday, March 5th, 1973 It takes more than one player to win a baseball game - as proven by Billy Broten of the Madison HS Dodgers.
The Madison HS third baseman gave it his all and dominated Wissahickon HS Trojans pitching today at Anchors Ballpark, finishing with a great 5-for-6 line. However, when the game ended, the scoreboard showed the Trojans going home the winner, 17-14.
"There's no point gloating about a 5-hit day in a loss," Broten said later. "A loss just means you should have done more. Maybe I should have hit 5 home runs instead."
Billy Broten singled in the 1st, hit a two-run double in the 2nd, doubled in the 5th, flied out in the 7th, singled in the 7th and singled in the 9th.
Broten currently has a .329 batting average with 26 hits, 1 homers, 13 RBIs, 13 runs scored and a .400 OBP.
