| Dodgers End Fiorenzo's Streak Wednesday, March 7th, 1973 Eden Prairie HS shortstop Steve Fiorenzo came into today's game against the Madison HS Dodgers on a hot streak. He left on a cold one.
The Dodgers did their jobs well, beating the Eden Prairie HS Eagles 9-0 and holding Fiorenzo hitless to snap his 26-game hitting streak. The 16-year-old shortstop had a few words to say after finishing 0-for-4, telling reporters only that he "came up short."
"What Steve did was exciting and quite an achievement," said Eagles manager . "It's tough enough to get one hit in this league, much less go 26 games in a row. I'm even more proud of the way he handled the press coverage. He never let the frenzy get to him or affect his play."
This season in 20 games, Fiorenzo has hit at a .407 clip with 37 hits, 1 home run, 21 RBIs and 15 runs scored. | |
