 | Alston Sizzles -- Smokes Mainstreeters for 5 Hits Wednesday, March 7th, 1973 It doesn't happen very often, but it did for Rob Alston today -- a 5-hit effort. He went on a rampage at Ballpark of Bakersfield HS and paced the Indians to a 19-3 win over the Sauk Centre HS Mainstreeters. After his dynamite batting performance, the Pawnee HS left fielder told reporters that he "just tried to get in a good count and have a good at-bat. That's all I can control." His philosophy paid dividends today. He slammed 5 hits in 7 tries and put his name in the record book. Rob Alston singled in the 1st, singled in the 3rd, grounded out in the 5th, hit a two-run double in the 5th, flied out in the 6th, doubled in the 8th and singled in the 9th.
