| Red-Hot Davis Scorches Wildcats Wednesday, March 29th, 1972 Even as a kid, Mike Davis said his coaches told him the key to hitting was making contact, and letting everything else flow from there. At Ballpark of Indianapolis HS today, Davis showed how well he learned that lesson.
The 17-year-old shortstop had 5 hits in 6 at-bats for the Silver Spring HS Razor Sharks, helping his team knock off the Walt Whitman HS Wildcats by a score of 12-7.
"They always said, just keep your eye on the ball, don't overswing, make contact and you never know what will happen," he said. "That's all I did today."
Mike Davis hit a two-run home run off Devin Deibert in the 1st, singled in the 3rd, singled in the 4th, singled in the 6th, singled in the 7th and grounded out in the 8th.
In this current campaign Davis is hitting at a .377 clip with 8 home runs and 30 RBIs.
