 | New Britain HS Narrowly Wins Hornsby Conference East Division Thursday, April 6th, 1972 The outcome of the Hornsby Conference East Division was in doubt for everyone around American High School. Everyone, that is, except the New Britain HS Alleycats. "We knew we would win it," said New Britain HS starting pitcher Ben Kimbrell, after his team edged the competition to win the division by one game. "It might have been an extremely close race, but I don't think our players ever lost faith that we would get the job done." The club got the job done on the strength of a 28-20 record, which earned New Britain HS its 1st division title. The team will be seeking the 1st Round 2 in franchise history. "We're also confident about our chances in the playoffs," Kimbrell added. "Don't count us out." |   |
