Sodbusters Cruise to Round 2 with Sweep
Monday, April 15th, 1946
The Union Township Sodbusters proved to be too much to handle for the Minnesota Twins in the Round 1, and a sweep was the end result.
Union Township punched its ticket to the Round 2 on the strength of a 4-1 win in the deciding game, which wrapped up the series 2-0.
Union Township third baseman Frankie Frisch, named series MVP, was instrumental in the sweep, as he mashed Minnesota pitching to the tune of a .500 average, with a .556 on-base percentage. He had 2 home runs, drove in 3 RBI and scored 3 runs.
The Union Township Sodbusters don't know who they will face in the next round. They will play the winner of the Cincinnati Reds - Wabash Warriors series. That series is tied at 1 game apiece. The Round 2 is scheduled to begin on April 17th, 1946.
