Round 2 Goes the Distance, St. Louis Prevails

The St. Louis Cardinals and Boston Red Sox put on a classic Round 2 that was in question until the final game.
In the end, St. Louis won the deciding contest by a score of 10-3, to take the series 3-2.
"It doesn't get much tighter than that. To win a series in the last game is a thrill," said Jose Cruz, who earned series MVP honors for St. Louis. "Our guys are breathing a little easier now."
For the series, Cruz hit .500 with a .522 on-base percentage. He had 2 home runs, drove in 9 RBI and scored 8 runs.
The St. Louis Cardinals will play against the Union Township Sodbusters in the next round. Union Township won their series against the Cincinnati Reds 3 games to 0. The Round 3 is scheduled to begin on April 25th, 1946.
